How we use AI
AI assists. People decide, and people are responsible.
What we use it for.
Summarising public source material, first drafts, structure, and checking our own copy for errors and repetition. Every article is then read, verified and signed off by a named person before it is published. Matt Cunnelly is responsible for what appears here.
What we never use it for.
We do not publish AI-generated quotes. We do not invent statistics or sources. We do not use AI to generate images of real people, and we do not publish AI-generated artwork anywhere on this site. Every quote is from a real person who said it. Every figure comes from a source we link.
How you can tell.
Every article carries a line at its foot naming its author and stating that it was AI-assisted, human-edited and fact-checked. Errors are ours, not a tool's, and are handled under our corrections policy.
When this changes.
This page carries the date it was last updated. If our use of these tools changes, this page changes first. The wider rules it sits inside are our editorial standards.
