Reddit puts its Canadian audience at more than 23 million weekly active uniques.
Reddit’s communications chief used a Toronto festival talk to set out its Canadian audience figures and its pitch to businesses there.
Reddit has set out its Canadian audience figures for the first quarter of 2026 in a Reddit for Business post dated 21 October.
The post writes up Chief Communications Officer Adam Collins’ fireside chat with T1’s Mark Harrison at Toronto’s Upgrade Festival, which has since been renamed Nrth. The post does not give the date of the talk.
The figures are Reddit’s own and all cover Q1 2026. Reddit says it had more than 23 million weekly active uniques in Canada and more than 7.5 billion average monthly views. It says Reddit ranked as the fifth most searched term on Google in Canada. And it says its Canadian audience spans adult age groups from 18 to 24 up to 55 and over, with Canadians aged 55 and over showing the strongest year over year growth of any age group.
What Collins said
Collins described a shift from valuing the internet for its content towards valuing it for connection. The post’s example is product research: AI can surface an option and summarise its features, while someone who has used the product can explain how implementation went and what they would choose differently.
In an accompanying interview with Campaign Canada, the post says, Collins described the human experience as Reddit’s North Star and discussed continued investment in identifying and removing bots and ingenuine activity. He also gave an AllTrails example: a user wanted to plan a multi day hike with his grandson and posted about a capability he could not find in the app, and according to Collins the company saw the conversation and developed a feature to address it.
Collins identified advertising as the most direct way for businesses to reach audiences on Reddit, alongside learning from conversations about their products and industries.
What it means for brands
For a brand selling in Canada, these are now the numbers to quote when someone asks whether Reddit is big enough to matter there, and the growth among Canadians aged 55 and over is the line for a brand whose customers skew older. The thing to do this week is to search Reddit for your product and category, and list the questions people ask that your own posts and product pages do not yet answer.
