TikTok launches a Taylor Swift search hub with fan unlocks for The Encore.
Searching Taylor Swift on TikTok now opens a dedicated hub with a profile frame to earn and behind-the-scenes clips that fans unlock together.
TikTok has launched a dedicated in-app experience for Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, announced on its newsroom on 30 September.
Anyone who searches “Taylor Swift” or “Patient Zero”, the release’s single, on TikTok is taken to a Search Hub built around the release. TikTok says the hub has been available since the release came out.
The hub opens with a curtain-inspired Easter egg. TikTok says it will keep unfolding in phases over the coming week, with three behind-the-scenes unlocks, and that fans can return as each one is revealed. It also carries the official videos, the full tracklist and a Fan Spotlight section.
How the unlocks work
There are two mechanics, one for the individual and one for the whole fanbase.
A fan earns an exclusive Taylor Swift profile frame by completing a set of actions across TikTok:
- following @taylorswift and @taylornation
- saving “Patient Zero” to their music app
- posting a video using the song
- listening to full tracks on TikTok
The second mechanic is collective. Fans reveal exclusive behind-the-scenes clips from the music video by sharing the experience and working towards a shared goal. TikTok has not said what that goal is or how progress is counted.
TikTok’s post puts Swift’s account at over 33.4 million followers and 278.6 million likes since she joined in 2021.
What TikTok has not said
The post gives no end date for the hub and does not list the countries where it is live. It also does not say whether the same format is open to other artists or to brands, or on what terms.
What it means for brands
This is a worked example of how TikTok wants a launch to run on its platform. The front door is search, not the For You feed, and every task on the list is an action TikTok can count: a follow, a save, a post with the sound, a full listen. The group goal then gives people a reason to share the hub with friends.
Nothing in the post says a brand can order one of these, so do not plan around getting a hub. Plan around the pattern. People who hear about a launch will search the name, and what they find there is part of the campaign.
One thing to do this week: search your brand name and your main product on TikTok and note what comes up first. Then walk through the Swift hub with whoever plans your next launch and list each action it asks a fan to take. That list is a fair brief for what your own launch content should ask people to do.
