TikTok LIVE streams a three-part tour of the Lucas Museum on 9 November.

TikTok LIVE and the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art host The Art of Heroes, a three-part livestream co-streamed by @starwars, on 9 November.

TikTok LIVE and the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art will run The Art of Heroes, a three-part livestream, on Monday 9 November from 5:30pm to 8:15pm PT, TikTok announced on its newsroom.

It streams on TikTok across the @lucasmuseum, @tiktok and @tiktoklive_us accounts, and viewers can register for the event in advance.

The stream is hosted by creators @bigdaddyankee and @cocomocoe, who will move through several of the museum’s exhibits on heroes in art, from Batman and Norman Rockwell to the original concept art behind C-3PO. The museum’s own curatorial experts and special guests join them. Viewers can ask questions in the chat, send fandom-themed likes and vote in themed polls during the LIVE.

The line-up

The event is split into three themed segments, with times given in PT:

  • 5:30pm to 6:30pm, Who Are Our Heroes? hosted by @cocomocoe: how artists bring heroes such as Batman and Spider-Man to life through comics, illustrations and paintings.
  • 6:30pm to 7:30pm, The Hero’s Journey, hosted by @bigdaddyankee and @cocomocoe: science fiction, fantasy, romance and adventure art, from artists including Frank Frazetta and N.C. Wyeth.
  • 7:30pm to 8:15pm, The Hero’s Legacy, hosted by @bigdaddyankee and co-streamed by @starwars: Star Wars costumes, props and vehicles, including R2-D2, C-3PO and Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder.

Part of Museums Come Alive

The stream is the latest stop in Museums Come Alive, TikTok LIVE’s global series that takes viewers inside cultural institutions in real time. Earlier LIVEs in the series featured LACMA, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA and the Pokémon Fossil Museum at the Field Museum in the US, and Art Basel Paris, the Almaty Museum of Arts, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Abdeen Palace Museum and the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia elsewhere. TikTok has not given viewing figures for any of them.

What it means for brands

The event is a clear template for a brand that wants to run a LIVE as a scheduled event rather than a one-off stream. Two creators host, the host institution’s own experts appear on camera, a partner account co-streams the final segment, and the audience is given set ways to take part through chat questions, likes and polls. The schedule is published in advance with a registration page and split into themed segments, so viewers know what they are tuning in for.

One thing to do this week: register for the stream, watch at least one segment, and note how the co-stream with @starwars and the polls are used, as a reference for the next LIVE your team plans.
