Building SPORF into a sports-social name.
SPORF set out to become one of the definitive fan voices in sports social, and our co-founder ran the content engine and audience behind it, at Social Chain, in the era that defined the space.
The situation
Sports social is one of the most crowded, fastest-moving spaces online: everyone has an opinion and attention lasts seconds. In the late 2010s it was also where publishing's centre of gravity was moving, and Social Chain's sports brands were in the middle of it.
SPORF's job was to stand out with a distinct fan voice and a reliable content engine, and to own the big moments in real time rather than just react to the news like everyone else. The brand lived across platforms, each with its own rhythm; what follows is the Facebook lane of that operation, the one our team ran end to end and the one we put numbers on.
What NBK did
Our co-founder ran SPORF's content engine at Social Chain, building a multi-platform operating model tuned to how sport is actually consumed: fast reaction content and graphics where the conversation happens, longer editorial and video where attention holds.
Banter, stats, big-moment coverage and community were run as one system, so the brand showed up first and consistently around the fixtures that mattered. Publishing held at around two posts a day, planned around the football calendar rather than the news cycle, which is how a lean team sounds omnipresent. By 2019 the Facebook page alone was a 660K-follower operation pulling 60M-plus views, one lane of a brand whose voice carried across every major platform.
What we actually did.
- A voice, not just a feedBuilt a recognisable fan tone so the brand stood out in a crowded sports timeline.
- Platform-native formatsReaction graphics, clips and stats tailored per platform, not one thing cross-posted.
- Owned the big momentsPlanned around fixtures and tentpole events to lead the conversation in real time.
- Built the communityTurned passive followers into a returning audience through relentless engagement.
In sports social, whoever shows up first and sounds like a fan wins. Speed and voice beat budget.
Keep exploring.
Each engagement is a different brand and a different constraint, same operating discipline.
