Moving a creator brand to a UGC-led model.
In 2022, Supercar Blondie wanted to step back from being in every piece of content while keeping the brand unmistakably hers. We built a UGC-led operating model that held the audience as she reduced her on-camera load.
The situation
By 2022, Alex (Supercar Blondie) had built one of the largest automotive and lifestyle brands on social, a brand whose content had accumulated over 45 billion views, and wanted to reduce how much she personally created. Every creator brand at scale eventually meets this problem: the founder is the format, and the format does not scale past one person's calendar.
The risk is real: a creator-led brand can fall away when the creator steps back, because the audience came for a person and stayed for a feel, and the feel is easy to lose the moment other people start making the content. The goal was to keep the identity, the audience and the commercial engine running on a different model, one that did not need her in every frame.
What NBK did
We analysed past engagement to define a structured UGC framework, then sourced and commissioned creator content and secured the rights to repurpose it. We edited that footage with the brand's own presenters and signature pacing so nothing felt off-brand, and launched an editorial site aligned to the same content pillars, extending the brand beyond the feed at the same time as it loosened its dependence on the founder.
The result was a scalable system that ran without the founder in every frame, and the numbers held through the change: views grew 15% in 2022 against 2021, and the model held nearly all of the brand's commercial performance, comfortably beating the goal we set for the transition.
What we actually did.
- Defined the UGC frameworkUsed past engagement to structure content pillars a UGC model could reliably fill.
- Sourced and secured contentCurated UGC creators and locked the rights to repurpose and commission.
- Kept the brand voiceEdited UGC with the brand's presenters and signature pacing, so nothing felt off-brand.
- Extended into editorialLaunched a site aligned to the content pillars to grow beyond the feed.
A creator brand shouldn't depend on the creator being in every frame. Build the system and the brand outlives any single shoot.
Keep exploring.
Each engagement is a different brand and a different constraint, same operating discipline.
